With over 30 years of touring, including iconic performances at Woodstock ’94, and Sturgis, rock icon Jackyl is set to ignite the stage at Suburban Park on Monday, September 2 at 6:00 p.m. The Labor Day show will mark the final concert of The 2024 Great New York State Fair’s 13-day run.
Jackyl exploded onto the scene in the early 1990s and made an immediate impression on fans and critics after its debut LP was certified double platinum. With renowned singles including “I Stand Alone,” “When Will it Rain,” and “The Lumberjack,” which features lead singer Jesse James Dupree’s famous chainsaw solo, Jackyl has earned its place among rock’s elite. Jackyl followed with another platinum hit in its second album “Push Comes to Shove.” The release featured two smash singles and another song that was featured on “The Beavis and Butt-Head Experience,” a compilation tied to MTV’s hit cartoon series that was certified triple platinum.
“Major rock and roll acts are always among our most requested concerts year-in and year-out,” said Julie LaFave, Interim Fair Director. “Jackyl’s flare for the dramatic and its energetic, in-your-face sound has thrilled audiences at some of the world’s most celebrated venues and festivals. There’s so much excitement surrounding this year’s entertainment lineup and we’re not done yet with a handful of concert announcements still to come that are sure to give fairgoers something to look forward to!”
Hailed by many for its on-stage presence and longevity, Jackyl has always looked to push the limits and holds two Guinness World Records after playing 100 shows in 50 days, including 21 shows in a 24-hour period.
Most recently, the band released its ninth studio album “Jackyl 30 Coming in Hot” in 2022, which has further cemented its legacy in rock and roll history.
The Fair starts Wednesday, August 21, and runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 2. All concerts are included in the price of admission, which will go on sale later this summer. The Great New York State Fair is the most affordable state fair in the country. Tickets are $8 for adults while admission is free for children under 12 and senior citizens aged 65 and older.
In total, The Fair’s Chevrolet Music Series will feature 39 national recording acts. There will be a daily 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. concert at Chevy Court (located near Gate 1), and a daily 8 p.m. concert at Suburban Park (located on the western end of the Fairgrounds, beyond the Midway).
